Vince Hizon

Vince Hizon is one of the Philippines’ premiere athletes. He is a former professional basketball player from the PBA, playing for noted teams such as Purefoods TJ Hotdogs, Ginebra San Miguel, and Red Bull Barako. He also served as the commissioner of the Filsports Basketball Association; a community-based basketball league in the Philippines.

Hizon began his basketball career by playing for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He then went on to play for Cypress College in Cypress, California and earned a basketball scholarship to Boise State University, and later Biola University. He ended his college basketball career as a star player with the Ateneo Blue Eagles during his UAAP years.

Hizon also spent his rookie year sparingly playing for Purefoods before he was traded to Ginebra San Miguel. Vince flourished playing for then-coach Robert Jaworski and instilling his never-say-die system. He became one of the most popular players in the league as well as the most popular sports figure in the Philippines at the time.

Vince spent most of his 11-year career as a professional basketball player playing for the Ginebra franchise where he won one PBL title, one Southeast Asian Games gold medal, one USBL championship, and four PBA titles.
